Biography

Marzena Hettich-Uryszek.

Graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw.
She received her diploma in the painting studio of Professor Krzysztof Skarbek and an annex in sculpture. She currently lives and works in Germany and Poland. She is close to the belief that form determines content. The artist, while appreciating classical painting, uses other creative techniques. She eagerly reaches for collage. Collage is, on the one hand, an opportunity to use various "by-products" of the development of civilization (cigar rings), and on the other - the possibility of their recontextualization, which is an expression of the intercultural and intertextual search of the Artist. The series of works created using this technique can be described as cultural recycling.

The artist has also carried out sculptural projects dedicated to public space. For years associated with Wieluń in her native land, she is the author of three bronze realizations in public space:
- a model of the historic center of Wieruszow (2017)
- a model of the historic center of Wieluń (2016)
- a monument to the victims of the bombing of Wieluń (2009).

"Marzena Hettich-Uryszek presents us with the direction of development of her own personal search. The dominant issues of forms of artistic expression in her compositions seem to be drawing and color. They create interacting instruments together with light effects and rich, changing shapes. They allow the opportunity to present interesting phenomena, bringing out colorful visual impressions. Creatively combining elements of chance with the conscious construction of painting matter, the artist gives her paintings an evocative and unique power. They also seem to come from the analysis of unusual phenomena, in an ever-changing popular culture, organizing its own mythologies." Prof. Krzysztof Skarbek

At the center of her interests is the human being and his various emotional states.
Reflecting these interests in her artistic output are, first, vivid and strong colors. And secondly, the strong presence of portraiture. The latter seems to suggest references to the tradition of figurative painting, but the Artist does not shy away from running towards abstraction.
