ABOUT EXHIBITION
Exhibition of works by the artistic duo Vistulart.Under the name Vistulart stand Dariusz Plutecki and Dagmara Świrska, a Warsaw-based artistic duo. In their creative work, the pair focuses on a little-known avant-garde technique of full-colour photorealistic string-art.
Using their own methods and tools, the pair creates unconventional works, in which the image emerges from a tangle of several kilometers of thread. The only thing responsible for the entire formation of the image is the thread, in different types, colors and thicknesses. The artists work without using any painting techniques, nothing is painted under or on the thread itself.
The unusual way in which the viewer perceives the image is also part of the innovative nature of this variety of string-art. Paradoxically, the more distance one looks at the picture, the more details one sees. The distance makes the shape emerge more and more clearly from the seeming chaos of crossing threads.
Among the works presented at the exhibition there will be paintings inspired by the paintings of great artists, the queen of art déco, Tamara Łempicka, or the master of Polish symbolism, Jacek Malczewski. The theme of most of the works is man, however the artists are constantly looking for new inspirations and creative challenges, which has resulted in an entirely different thematic series of works, including those devoted to motoring.
Dariusz and Dagmara are among the few artists in the world who deal with photorealistic, full-color string-art, an art form bordering on new media and algorithmic art.
