Biography
Since the beginning of her work, the artist's paintings have been inspired by icons and ancient art. However, just as often the author refers to memories, fairy tales, dreams or folk art. The works focus on a person, but it is not just a study, the figure becomes a metaphor, a kind of ceremony celebrating fragile emotions.
Daria Ostrowska's works can be found in private collections throughout Poland.
Credo
I have a deep feeling that in my work I strive to find in a person, actually in a woman the element of divinity. This applies to myself, to the process of painting and searching, as well as to what I show on canvas. I never wanted my works to depict only external and directly seen beauty. I want to portray the soul, the unreal spaces of the mind that bring order to the chaos within us, that give us peace. There is something in us, in human beings, that cannot be described in words, I try to paint this elusive and unrecognizable mystery. It is difficult to define for myself as well, but I have been patiently walking this very path for a long time, will it ever lead me to my destination? This I do not know. For now, the important thing is to go.
