ABOUT EXHIBITION
The IDEA HOMINI is not a continuation of the previous Marcin Kowalik’s projects. It is not to report on the process of creating a work of art, nor it is an intellectual game between the painter and the viewer. It’s a new idea to paint a human.
In 2016, Marcin Kowalik undertook a new painting challenge. This is how the idea of telling a story about a man came to life, as an effect, he painted several tens of portrayals. Inspired by Pablo Picasso, he created nearly thirty images of people representing various professions. They included a singer, a model, a cardiologist, a poet, an astronomer. In those works, he borrowed from the master the way of constructing human silhouette, which involved stained-glass-like contour. The project has become a peculiar way for the author to open himself to painting people, to wrestle with the subject.
