Description

Lex Melancholia

Do you ever feel a strange, unwarranted anxiety every year
around the end of August? If so, don't worry, there's nothing
wrong with you.
Scientists put it bluntly: "It's perfectly normal. Everyone
subconsciously senses that summer is coming to an end. Au-
gust is the Sunday of months — it seems nice, but September
is already lurking around the corner. You barely put your
overcoat away, and you have to take it out again."
Statements like this have been in the public eye for years.
However, it wasn't until this year that the government
managed to draft the Lex Melancholia bill. It proposes
a package of solutions to help deal with August anxiety. The
bill was unanimously passed by parliament.
As a reminder, one of the pillars of the bill is an additional
day off work, always falling on the penultimate Friday of
August. As the President remarked when signing the new
law, "this is your last chance to drop everything and head
to the Bieszczady Mountains."
