Janusz Szpyt
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Katowice in the studio of Professor Duda-Gracz, and then at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Professor Włodzimierz Buczek.
Biography
Janusz Szpyt was born in Lubaczow where he lives and works. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Katowice in the studio of Professor Duda-Gracz, and then at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Professor Włodzimierz Buczek. In 1983, he co-founded the Group of Three, also known as the Excessive Tercet, which called in its manifestos, presented in the magazine , "Bengal", for truth in art, related to the quality of form, color and more broadly the painting technique and its message, opposing the widely prevailing artistic and media trash. The subjects of his paintings include genre scenes, portraits, nudes, surrealist, grotesque, satirical scenes and monumental painting. His works refer to the rich tradition of European painting. Since 2007, he has worked as a lecturer at the European Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His works are in museums and private collections at home and abroad.
