ABOUT EXHIBITION
Born in 1956 in Warsaw. Painter, performer, author of theoretical texts on painting, literary texts, dramas. He graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He defended his diploma in 1981 in the painting studio of Prof. Jan Tarasin and the sculpture studio of Prof. Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz. After graduation, he took a job as an art instructor, theater instructor, then was a school teacher. Jan Wyżykowski's paintings are unique due to the author's technique and the color palette created by the painter. Since his time at the academy, the artist has studied the fundamentals of the painting medium: he was involved in structuralist studies and color theory, which served to further his work on the effects of concavity and convexity in painting. Until around 2003, the artist worked on the theory of the color channel in the retina, painting theory and playwriting, and a little later returned to performance. In 2004 he also discovered reflexive perspective and the so-called broken color model. He was assisted in many of his endeavors by mathematician - the late Cezary Suski. The artist uses 24 colors, and the elements in his paintings go into several thousand details. In 2011, Jan Wyżykowski completed his work on structures. In 2016 he published an experimental novel entitled. "Bullet", the third part of which is "Compendium of Painting Problems". The series "New Structuralism" and "Epiphany Night" are very popular among collectors. Vygotsky's entire oeuvre is an exemplification of his theoretical search, as well as an example of very methodical work, a combination of scientific theory and art.
