About the artist

Rafał Olbiński (born 1943)

Born in Kielce, in 1969 graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1981 he emigrated to the United States. He quickly became known in the local community and became known as an excellent illustrator and painter.
Since 1985 he has been a lecturer at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He also deals with illustration, painting, poster design and set design. He has gained great recognition around the world and his posters and illustrations are regularly published in magazines such as Newsweek, Time, Business Week, New York Times, New Yorker. He is a very hard-working artist with a huge output. He has already produced numerous posters for American operas (New York City Opera, Utah Opera, Pacific Opera San Francisco, Philadelphia Opera), opera set design for Don Giovanni's performance in Philadelphia.

His works have been presented at many exhibitions in the United States, Japan, France, Germany and Poland.
