Biography

Ragnhildur Stefánsdóttir (born June 28, 1958 ) is an Icelandic sculptor .
Ragnhildur studied at the School of Arts and Crafts from 1977 to 1981 and completed her MFA at Carnegie Mellon University of the Arts in Pittsburgh, USA in 1987.
Among Ragnhildur's best-known works is a sculpture of Ingibjörg H. Bjarnason, the first woman to sit in Alþingi. The statue is by Skála, an extension of the Alþingishús at Kirkjustræti in Reykjavík. The statue was unveiled at a ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage on June 19, 2015.
