Biography

Elena Bischoff was born in the Gobi desert, has lived in Eastern and Western Europe, worked beneath the peaks of the Himalayas, and has always drawn inspiration from the beauty of this world, from cultural diversity and, of course, from people.
From the earliest days of her childhood she developed a passion for painting. After meeting a Buddhist painting master while traveling through India, she became his student for more than eight years. Not only did he instruct her in the secrets of the craft, he also taught her Buddhist philosophy and meditation.

Elena Bischoff took this knowledge with her when she returned to Europe and has employed it ever since in the creation of her artwork. She combines ancient tech-niques to discover new ways of stylistic expression while simultaneously using classi-cal European traditions. This approach gives her access to great artistic freedoms: she utilizes traditional brushes of various sizes, Japanese and Chinese calligraphy and very unique single-hair brushes from Tibet.
"Every new painting teaches me something new. Every new painting lets me discover more about the world of painting. With every new painting, I discover the world."
