"Thinking about my painting I reach for tradition and I base my research on the process of shaping the genre that is still life. I use a specific type of presentation, that is trompe'l'oeil in a most accurate way. Trompe l'oeil, or "deceive the eye" - the literal translation of the French term, is based on running a game with the recipient, what is real and what is merely a representation of things. Workshop and respect for the history is one thing but it is also important to shape and enrich one’s artistic consciousness. To achieve this I am helped by contemporary artists. How the legacy of the old, classical painting can be translated into the language of today."
