Ref. no 4661
Description
Hillel, one of the greatest authorities in the history of Judaism, lived two thousand years ago, but many of his decisions still apply today. Famous are his thoughts, such as the one quoted in the quote: "If not I for myself, who for me? And if I only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" (Pirkei Avot 1:14). At the top are the words: "Said Hillel." The composition and shape of letters echo illuminated manuscripts from medieval Europe.
