Artist, journalist, editor and Jewish school teacher, she has been involved in Jewish art for 40 years.
Biography
Artist, journalist, editor and Jewish school teacher, she has been involved in Jewish art for 40 years. Initially – together with her husband Stanislaw - she traveled around Poland photographing surviving Jewish monuments and recording tombstone reliefs using the frottage technique. The fruits of this work and her studies of symbolic motifs in Jewish art were two photo albums: "Time of Stones" (1982) and "Tribe of Stones" (1993), as well as exhibitions, lectures and workshops in Poland, the US, Israel, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
For the past 20 years she has been creating papercuts derived from Jewish tradition. Many of her works were created on the occasion of births, bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah celebrations and weddings, and are also exhibited in synagogues and museums.
As an educator, she conducts lectures and workshops on Jewish tradition in art, including at Jewish cultural festivals in Cracow and Warsaw, and year-round classes at the Yiddish Culture Center in Warsaw.
